We learned about the phases of the moon and then had fun using Oreos to represent the phases. It was educational...and delicious.
These three students have been working their buts to learn about space.

(It won't be due until late January or early February so you have plenty of time to work on you Science Fair project. Last but not least, we were contacted by another group of kiddos who are learning about US Landmarks. They have been checking out our website. Here's their website: Landmarks website Here's what their teacher wrote: Hi Mrs. Cotten! I wanted to send a quick note to thank you for your page, some talented young students and I have been getting a lot of use from it! We're currently preparing for upcoming presentations about notable places in the United States to take a bit of a "road trip" inside the class room. I was scouring theweb looking for family friendly websites/books we could use as inspiration which is how I stumbled onto your page here, http://thediscoveryden.weebly.com/social-studies-links.html I was having a hard time finding non-spammy resources that were age appropriate so you have my thanks! As a token of our appreciation I wanted to share another page with you that one of our superstars Alexa found. It's all about famous landmarks and architecture in the U.S. that gave us some good ideas. Maybe you might find it useful for your page? Let us know what you think: https://store.alansfactoryoutlet.com/Building-Marvels-Landmarks-of-the-United-States-s/1906.htm If you do decide to share that page I'll be sure to show Alexa and the gang you liked her idea. I love sharing stuff and if you have any other needs or cool project ideas please share! Maybe an interesting location idea to research? Thanks so much and sorry for rambling, I'm so excited about this connection! Wishing your explorers continued success in their studies :) Kind Regards, Nancy Mitchell Reading Room Manager |
AuthorEvery two weeks we have 2 student website managers and 2 student photojournalists who blog and report about what we are learning in class. Mrs. Cotten also helps out with the blogging, but most is completed by the students. Archives
