We made sedimentary rock today! One model, we used sand, gravel and salt water. We are waiting for the salt water to evaporate, leaving the salt behind. The salt and deposited minerals cement the sand grains and pebbles together, forming a sedimentary rock, like sandstone. We can't wait to see how our rocks turn out!
The other model we made out of crayons. It's a more basic model. We shaved crayons, to weather them away into sediments. Then we pressed down firmly, compacting and cementing the crayon shavings together. Check out our fun crayon shaving sedimentary rocks!
